Delta Adventure

There is no better way to discover a true African Wilderness than travelling in a dug-out canoe and cooking and camping in the bush with the local people.

The Delta Adventurer is very much a participation trip where you will get to put up your own tent and set up your own camp. Meals will be pre-made for you ready to re-heat and prepare over an open flame in the bush.

  Itinerary
Day One:
From Maun Airport you will be transferred to Sitatunga campsite (if required). On arrival at the camp you will be given a welcome briefing and a chat about the activities over the next few days. Your accommodation this evening will be in our rustic cabins with shared shower and toilet facilities. Dinner will be provided in the campsite bar.
Day Two: A quick breakfast is served at the campsite, before you take a relaxing drive into the Okavango Delta.

At the River we meet the guides and Mokoro polers. We will organise you and your camping equipment in the boats, and then you will continue on by traditional wooden dug-out canoe (or Mokoro'). Gliding along the pristine channels, there is excellent opportunity for photography.

Your Mokoro Guide will assist you to set up camp in the shade while looking out over the river. After you have prepared your own lunch and settled in to your camp, your guide will take you on an afternoon game walk. Returning to camp in the cool of the early evening to cook dinner over and open fire.

Day Three: Up before the sun, you set out by Mokoro or on foot, to explore the area in search of game. On most walks you may come across zebra, giraffe, elephant, jackals, antelope and fantastic bird life. On occasion we also see lion, leopard, buffalo, wild dog, bat-eared fox, hyena and other species.

Walks are led by local guides who are part of the community-based programme we work closely with.

During the hottest part of the day you can cool off in the river, or just relax before the afternoon outing.

During the evening your guides will share stories around the fire while listening to the sounds of the African bush. Be prepared if your Botswana hosts put on a song for you they will be expect one in return!

Day Four:  Up early for those who wish to take a final walk, then cruise back down the crystal clear channels of the Boro to our pick up at around 10.00am. We arrive back at Sitatunga Camp at approximately 12 noon. The afternoon camp can be spent relaxing in the pool, bar and restaurant or there is opportunity to do a scenic flight over the Okavango and get a birds eye view of the area that you have camped in over the last few days.
Day Five:  Enjoy a late breakfast in the restaurant, and then perhaps take a guided tour of the properties commercial crocodile farm (not included) before you are transferred to the airport for your onward flights
